The Fearless Organization Scan provides the instrument to measure psychological and begin the crucial conversations that teams need to have in order to access the benefits offered by improving psychological safety.

Based on Professor Amy C. Edmondson’s 30+ years of work and research in the field of organizational psychology and teaming, and in collaboration with Dr. Edmondson herself, Bright Instruments developed The Fearless Organization Scan in 2019.

Who is this program intended for?

Certification Modules

The Fearless Organization Scan is a tool that yields data that is very powerful in team conversations. To be able to host a conversation with a team around psychological safety and interpret the results of the scan, you can take the Fearless Organization Scan Certification training.

There is a harmonised approach to training around the globe. We distinguish between two types of practitioners:

  • those who work independently with organizations as coaches, consultants and facilitators
  • people who are internal practitioners, employed by organizations

The certification program develops the necessary skills for administering, interpreting, and utilizing FOS in organizations to identify team levels of Psychological Safety.

A certification program includes a minimum of two facilitators and up to 15 participants. Upon request, TREND can offer internal certification programs.

  • Understanding the concept of psychological safety. How psychological safety manifests within teams. Presentation of the Fearless Organization. Scan (FOS) questionnaire. Why is it recommended to measure the level of psychological safety with FOS?

  • Leader and team preparation. Analysis
    of results and interpretation of data generated by FOS. The debrief session with the team.

    PROCESS

    Debriefing the Results (3 hours)



  • Setting up a project in the portal.
    Exploring in detail how FOS reflects team dynamics and how practitioners can identify valuable, relevant information.
    Preparing a project (pilot)

    Participants are supported to apply
    what they have learned by using FOS
    with a team of their choice. Participants
    will set up their project in the portal
    and share the results. Two 60-min
    supervision sessions may be provided
    to participants in implementing
    the process.

Upon certification,
practitioners will be able to:

  • Assess the level of psychological safety in teams using the Fearless Organization Scan survey.
  • Organize introductory workshops on psychological safety.
  • Conduct debriefing analyses based on the results obtained through the survey application.
  • Collaborate with teams to define strategies for increasing psychological safety.
  • Reapply the survey for reassessments.

Upon certification, practitioners will be able to:
